Christmas Appeal
This year, Springfield Lakes State School will be partnering with The YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre for the Springfield Lakes State School Christmas Appeal.
The appeal aims to provide food and gifts to families in need over the Christmas Holidays and beyond. Families are invited to give an item of non-perishable foodstuffs, or a brand new gift for a child, which will be collected and placed into hampers and distributed to families in need.
Our aim in partnering with the YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre in this initiative is to foster a greater sense of community, whilst inspiring children and families in our community to openly give and care for those less fortunate than themselves. It is our aim that most families within our school community would provide something that will assist in restoring dignity to another family over the holiday season.
The Chaplaincy Service will provide an opportunity for families at Springfield Lakes State School to give these items by placing them under the empty Christmas Tree in the School Hall Foyer on Wednesday the 27th of November 2019.
Over the past six years our school community has responded generously to the Christmas appeal. In 2018 the Springfield Lakes State School community contributed over 2000 items to families in need.
If you are aware of any families or individuals within our region who may benefit from receiving a hamper during this holiday period, please contact our Chaplain Hayden Bridgeman via haydenb@chappy.org.au or phone (07) 3437 9888.
We hope that many of you will embrace this chance to offer support to our wider community.
