To celebrate NAIDOC week within our school, our school is hosting performances by Indigenous performer Sean Choolburra. Sean was born and raised in Townsville and his ancestors are Gu-Gu-Yalanji, Kalkadoon, Kandju and Bwgcolman from around Townsville and Palm Island. Sean trained and toured internationally with the Bangarra Dance Company, as well as performing worldwide as a comedian and performer including performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Sean incorporates dance, stories, music, history and culture into an entertaining and exciting performance.
Students are encouraged to dance, sing, and participate! Dances from Eastern Cape York and the Gulf of Carpentaria are included. The programme concludes with some Hip Hop and other contemporary favorites of Sean. Schools that have seen Sean in action say he is a SUPERSTAR!
The performances will take place on TUESDAY 21 JULY, and all students are encouraged to attend. A note with payment details has gone home with your child.
