A very warm welcome to Springfield Lakes State School. We hope that your association with the school will be pleasant and rewarding and that you will contribute to the life of the school.
Our school is located in Springfield Lakes Boulevard, Springfield Lakes.
The early years precinct caters for students in Years 1-3, and along with the Prep rooms are designed as “learning cottages” reflecting the importance of community involvement in the school.
The middle school complex is designed for students in Years 4-6. These larger teaching spaces are in the “learning lodges”; double story buildings built around the school oval and overlooking beautiful Spring Lake.
Each of these modern facilities comes equipped with the latest educational technology including electronic whiteboards, individual computer stations, data projectors, practical learning areas, kitchens and toilet facilities.
The school has a well-resourced, air-conditioned resource centre and computer laboratory; a science room and specialist music block catering for classroom, instrumental and string programs. The oval, multipurpose courts, shaded adventure playground and covered play areas provide opportunities for students to enjoy a range of teacher directed and independent physical activities in a sun safe environment. A multi-purpose hall, incorporating a community centre, was completed in 2011.
Springfield Lakes State School is enrolment managed to ensure access, now and into the future for students who are resident within this community, as defined by its local catchment area.
The school is staffed with a team of talented, experienced teachers who bring an enormous range of skills and experiences to our school. They work in partnership with parents and the Springfield Lakes community in implementing a distinctive, futures oriented curriculum that meets the needs of our students. Teacher pedagogy is centred on explicit teaching of literacy and numeracy; ensuring students get the most from what they are learning.
The school’s motto is, “The best we can be”. Springfield Lakes State School’s expectation for success and desire for excellence from all of us in the school community is encapsulated in this simple, but effective motto. Differentiation in curriculum delivery drives the school’s programs. The children are grouped in straight year levels but enrolment numbers may necessitate composite classes from time to time.
Student welfare, discipline and safety are managed in a supportive, consultative manner with policy and procedures documented clearly in the school’s Code of Behaviour. A whole school community approach to positive behaviour support through the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Program addresses the expectations of the school community articulating issues around acceptable and unacceptable behaviours, and bullying.
An active Parents and Citizen’s Association has become an integral component of the school’s culture and shaped its development. Several working parties and sub-committees of the P&C make decisions and undertake a range of activities that ensure the smooth operations of the school.
