Students across Springfield Lakes State School recently took part in National Simultaneous Storytime, joining children around Australia in a shared reading experience.
This year's featured book, Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, delighted students with its engaging story and memorable characters, encouraging imagination, creativity and a love of reading.
As part of the celebration, students in the library enjoyed the story together, with a Year 6 class and a Year 1 class coming together to share the experience. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for students of different ages to connect through storytelling and foster a shared appreciation for books.
A highlight of the live event was watching illustrator Jake Minton bring Luna Roo to life through a live drawing demonstration. Students were captivated as they watched the illustrations take shape and gained a unique insight into the creative process behind children's books.
National Simultaneous Storytime continues to be a fantastic initiative that promotes literacy and the joy of reading, and this year's event was thoroughly enjoyed by students across the school.
